Why Lifeline fits
Lifeline is Australia's frontline crisis line. If things feel overwhelming, unsafe, or like you can't keep going, a trained crisis supporter can listen without judgement, any hour of the day or night. You don't need to be in immediate danger to call — distress on its own is reason enough.
What to expect
- A calm voice will answer and ask what's going on for you right now.
- You set the pace — share as much or as little as feels okay.
- They'll help you think through what might make the next hour safer.
- Calls are confidential. You don't have to give your real name.
Questions people often ask
While you decide
- If you're waiting on hold, slow your breathing: in for 4, hold for 4, out for 6.
- Put something cold against your wrists or face — it can ease panic in minutes.
- If you're not safe right now, call 000 instead of waiting.
This tool does not replace medical advice. If you're in immediate danger, call 000.
